Brother Ali – Us

This album was my first time hearing Brother Ali and what a first impression it was. From the production to the lyrics to the flow, everything about this album is solid. Released in 2009, “Us” is a profound exploration of the human experience. The album weaves together themes of identity, societal struggles, and personal triumphs and some ‘Hip Hop braggadocious’ thrown in of course.

What sets Brother Ali apart for me is his authenticity that bleeds on every record. His storytelling feels like he’s having a conversation with you.

For me, there are truly no skippable moments on this album so it’s hard to pick out my favorite tracks but if I had to, my top 3 are;

  • Fresh Air
  • Puppy Love
  • Us
